From Sakai Fish Farm to Odakan
Hidekazu Yoshida began his professional journey in Nishikigoi at Sakai Fish Farm during the era of Hiroji Sakai. Through years of working closely with high-level koi, and later serving as a senior staff member, he developed extensive practical knowledge in koi selection, development, conditioning, feeding, and preparation.
His experience at Sakai Fish Farm also taught him the importance of nutrition in Nishikigoi development - an understanding that stayed with him throughout his career and later became part of the foundation behind Odakan SQ.
Yoshida later established Odakan Co., Ltd., building his own path as a Nishikigoi dealer and developing the company over the following decades into an established name in the koi world.

Hidekazu Yoshida has spent his professional life working with Nishikigoi at the highest level. From his years at Sakai Fish Farm to building Odakan Co., Ltd., his experience extends across koi selection, long-term development, conditioning, feeding, and show preparation.
Over the decades, koi selected, developed, handled, or represented by Odakan have achieved numerous major prizes in Japan, including multiple Grand Champion titles. These achievements reflect years of practical understanding of how high-quality Nishikigoi develop and how their condition can be managed over time.
This accumulated experience became an important foundation behind the development of Odakan SQ.
Nutrition Created for the Koi Under His Care
Odakan SQ began from a practical objective: to provide better nutrition for both the koi entrusted to Odakan by its customers and Odakan’s own koi. Hidekazu Yoshida wanted nutrition that could better support the way he personally developed and conditioned Nishikigoi.
Rather than creating another general-purpose koi food, Odakan SQ was developed around clear feeding objectives and the standards Yoshida had formed through decades of hands-on experience.
From the beginning, the goal was to pursue a higher standard of koi nutrition based on what Yoshida himself expected from a premium food.
